The health and wellbeing of our cats and kittens is at the heart of our breeding programme. We carry out comprehensive health screening, including regular HCM scans, DNA testing and infectious disease monitoring, to help us make responsible breeding decisions. We believe in being open about our health testing, and results for our breeding cats are published on this page.
Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)
Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a heart condition that can affect Sphynx cats, sometimes without any obvious symptoms. Regular echocardiographic screening can help identify changes in the heart and forms an important part of our responsible breeding programme. As an HCM scan reflects a cat's heart health at the time of examination, our cats continue to be screened regularly, including after they retire from breeding.
Our HCM Protocol
• Annual HCM scans for our breeding cats, continuing after they retire from breeding
• Echocardiograms performed by veterinary cardiologists
• Results published once verified
• Any cat with an abnormal HCM result is immediately retired from our breeding programme

Amazing Grace (Gracie)
First HCM scan booked for 22/04/2027, shortly before her first birthday. Once completed, her result will be published here and on PAWPEDS.
Health Screening & Genetic Testing
Our breeding cats undergo a range of genetic and health screening, including:
• CMS (Congenital Myasthenic Syndrome)
• Blood group testing
• BHK (Burmese Hypokalaemia)
• PCR screening for feline herpesvirus, calicivirus, Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, Giardia and Tritrichomonas
If an infectious disease is detected through PCR screening, the affected cat is isolated and appropriate veterinary advice is followed, with repeat testing carried out as required.
